September 7, 2022:
ChinookX is pleased to announce that Indigenous business leader Frank Busch, of the Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation in Northern Manitoba, has joined our company board of directors. He is known across Canada for his dedication to the economic and cultural advancement of Indigenous peoples.
Prior to co-founding NationFUND, Busch was instrumental in deploying approximately $725 million through an Indigenous securities issuer. As CEO of NationFUND, Busch advises First Nation councils, staff and membership on capital markets, investment strategy, and private equity and debt financing.
Busch will provide essential oversight, insight and strategic direction to ChinookX projects and partnerships. In addition to his business savvy and vast network from visiting over 275 First Nations throughout his career, Busch will help ground our governance circle in cultural respect and protocols.
“I strongly believe in the ChinookX mission and model of supporting Indigenous self-determination and nationhood through ownership and operation in emerging technologies. I encourage interested nations to reach out to this dynamic team and explore this exciting new economy,” says Busch.
As ChinookX further builds out our Indigenous Innovation District vision of high performance data centres on-reserve powered by Indigenous clean energy, we will lean on Busch’s wisdom, passion and network to advance partnerships with nations ready to take the plunge into emerging technologies.
“Frank finds responsible and sustainable ways to fund Indigenous self-determination unlike no other in Canada. Having him join our board of directors is a breath of fresh air for us at ChinookX and will ultimately be of immense benefit to our community partners,” says Lee White, co-founder and director of client relations at ChinookX.
Busch holds an undergraduate degree in Indigenous Studies from the University of Manitoba, five certificates from the Canadian Securities Institute and a post-graduate certificate in finance from Harvard University. He is a published author and past recipient of the Burt Award for First Nations, Metis and Inuit Literature.
